On site within the heart of the DACH-region we are looking for a

Head of Applied Mineral Development (m/f)


  • Leading an international team of mineralogists, geologists, chemists, chemical engineers and laboratory specialists
  • Development of improved production processes, new products and new product forms for numerous market segments such as paper, polymer, paint, adhesives, cement, agriculture, life sciences and others
  • Member of the R&D leadership team and close internal collaboration with marketing, procurement, plant management as well as with external suppliers, clients and partners in industry and science
  • Close cooperation with and support of pilot units and production sites to ensure new know-how-transfer and high product quality
  • Steering of projects on cost efficiency, on qualification of raw materials and additives including the support for the implementation in the production units
  • Active patent work comprising drafting of new patents and handling of patent oppositions
  • Representing the company at conferences and in meetings with customers and external development partners


  • University degree (PhD, MSc.) in material science, chemistry, chemical engineering or in relevant other fields such as mineralogy and geology
  • Deep understanding of the interaction of chemical additives with inorganic fillers and of relevant production technologies and installations within the chemical and/or mining industry
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in leadership and personnel management including all aspects of laboratory safety and typical laboratory-related workflows and documentation
  • Sound understanding of cost structures of production processes and awareness of cost and implications of new processes
  • Excellent communication skills on all hierarchical levels, ability to build and foster sustainable networks based on trust and integrity
  • Fluency in English is mandatory, German language skills are a big plus (the willingness to learn is important)
  • Flexibility to travel on international level
